Astrodyne designs modular DC/DC

21:45

The series was designed to meet cost-sensitive power conversion requirements in board-level product applications such as data acquisition, communications and industrial I/O It accepts 4:1 wide range inputs from 9VDC to 75 VDC.

Fourteen models are currently available that provide single and dual outputs from 3.3VDC to 15VDC.

All FED20W series models contain short circuit protection, over voltage protection and an on/off control.

An internal input filter eliminates the need for the addition of external components and all models are pinout and size compatible with more costly products.

The FED20W series also provides 1600V input-to-output isolation and will operate over the ambient temperature range of -40 to +75C without forced cooling or output power derating.

Each unit employs six-sided shielding and is fully encapsulated with five-sided nickel coated copper and FR4 base.

TED develops Inrevium evaluation board

21:44

Tokyo Electron Device Limited (TED) has developed the Inrevium TB-OP-FCRAM evaluation board for FCRAM.

Although DDR2 SDRAM is the current mainstream technology in the DRAM market, its use in digital consumer electronic products requires the mounting of multiple chips to obtain adequate data bandwidth.

This causes problems such as an increase in power consumption because of the termination resistor required and the space of footprint associated with the large package size.

The 256Mbit FCRAM released by Fujitsu Microelectronics in June 2008 has 64-bit bus architecture.

This means it can operate at a lower frequency while still providing the same data transfer capacity as SDRAM that uses 16 or 32-bit bus.

This lower frequency eliminates the need for an external termination resistor and reduces the power consumption by up to 1W (approximately 70 per cent), compared to two pieces of 16-bit bus width DDR2 SDRAM of equivalent performance.

The Inrevium TB-OP-FCRAM includes a Virtex-5 FPGA XC5VLX50-1FFG676C and 256Mbit FCRAM and allows users who are developing SoC to perform interface evaluations using FCRAM at an early development stage.

Inertial unveils synchro/resolver output

21:41

The PC104-DS series are manufactured by US-based Computer Conversions and is designed to provide precision-simulated AC synchro and resolver formatted signals for use in navigation and positioning systems.

It can also be used with test sets for both industrial and COTS military type applications or combined with synchro amplifiers for Torque Receiver applications.

All models provide 16Gbits resolution and selectable accuracy grades from +/-4 arc minutes to + / - 30 arc seconds and Built in Test.

These units are virtually indestructible, with transformer isolation, thermal and transient protected and short circuit proof.

Featuring a wide-band frequency of DC-10,000Hz, and a COTS operating temperature range of -45 to +85C, these units are ideal for upgrades of heritage equipment, as well as new applications.

The use of internal isolation transformers on the reference inputs provides phasing flexibility and immunity from ground loops or ground reference induced noise.

It is an effective barrier to prevent any electrical noise on the reference source input from affecting the users digital-control system.

The PC104-DS range can be populated with up to four different style output converters.

These versatile products are ideal for use where space and weight are at a premium.

They are ideal for GPS-type applications, head up display systems, field test equipment, mobile antenna's, air and nautical navigation aids.

XP Power announces ECM140 power supplies

21:39

These inductive components offer: a high energy-storage capacity at low volume, reduced losses and good EMC characteristics.

Depending on application, they are constructed either as single-conductor chokes for high-current applications, individual chokes, choke modules or LC filters For use in power electronics, power generation and instrumentation and control, the chokes and filters can be used for frequencies up to 200 kHz and current ratings up to 1000A, with component sizes ranging from 36 to 300mm diameter and weights from 50g to 130kg.

The components can be used in temperatures up to 180C.

They are easy to fit and have numerous mounting options.

Components can be made to all common standards, including protection type IP20 and IP65.

All products are RoHS- and WEEE-conformant and the materials used are UL-listed.

All SMP components are manufactured to customer specifications using in-house developed powder composites.

For smaller quantities, samples and testing, a selection of standard parts is available.

Tyco launches higher-rated energy meter

21:18

The DRK-3P-400-D90 now has a maximum input of 100A, matching the current ratings of distribution boards Requiring no maintenance, the DRK-3P-400-D90 ensures that systems remain balanced and safe This highly efficient meter is easily installed as the load cable is passed vertically through the case facilitating direct connection.

The device also features an illuminated LCD display, non-zeroing total counter and partial zeroing counter.

The direct connected kWh meters are highly accurate, easy to read and available in a space-saving package without a need to install separate CTs.
